The internet has become an important aspect of our society and for the people that live in it. With benefits such as streaming video, movies and downloading music, I personally don’t expect the internet to go anywhere, anytime soon. However, because of the increasing amount of multimedia that’s added to the internet each and every day, the bandwidth that we need to enjoy it has to grow also.

Dial-up connections are the thing of the past as they’re no longer sufficient for streamlining media and even viewing standard web pages. Almost everyone who’s been online for longer than a decade started with dial up connectivity, so we all remember how painfully slow the whole experience was.

Today, if you’re looking for high speed internet, you have a number of options available to you. Broadband is the choice we all have today. Broadband is the medium that we all now use to transmit large amounts of information over our telephone networks. There are a number of broadband packages that use this technology such as DSL, T1, and Satellite and Cable internet.

DSL and Cable are currently the most popular methods of accessing the internet. The specifications for these two connection types are virtually identical; however, I’d imagine that you’d have your own preference and opinions. So it’s not out of the ordinary to meet someone who prefers DSL over Cable or vice versa.

T1 lines are used primarily by businesses, this connection type is found to be most popular amongst business users because it’s able to guarantee both constant speeds and stability.
