Finding and Getting a Deal on a High Speed Internet Connection

High speed internet services have come a long way in a short amount of time. In fact you can get this internet service almost anywhere in the country so even those that live outside of town or in more rural areas can now also enjoy the benefits of a high speed connection. The other great thing is that there are several places that you can purchase your high speed access so you can shop it around to get the best deal.

One place that you may want to consider especially if you live in a rural area is via a satellite dish. There are a few companies that offer this type of service. What you do is purchase a small satellite dish and their receiver box. It works just the same way that satellite television works. You can find free installation and many rebates on the satellite dish itself. The only down fall with this type of service is it runs best when the weather is clear. This is because thick clouds can block some of the satellite feed however this is a great alternative to dial up when you live outside the service area of other service providers.

Many phone companies are also offering a high speed internet connection through DSL. So if you can get phone service you can also get a connection. This gives you a good option because many of the DSL providers also provide phone service and they give a discount if you combine both services. This savings can put extra cash back in your pocket.

Cable companies have also gotten in on the demand for internet high speed connections. Just as the phone companies have combined their services so have the cable companies. So you can bundle your services and save yourself some cash. However there are even bigger savings to be found in the internet service providers. As the bigger companies begin to work together to save their selves money you will find this works in your benefit and you can find a great deal on high speed service.

The larger companies are teaming up and sharing resources and it is the consumers that are really getting price breaks. For example in many areas in the country you can find service that combines your telephone service, your cell phone service, your cable or satellite, and your access to the internet. When you get this type of combination you will surely save money versus purchasing each service individually. This is because the companies are sharing resources such as wiring, customer service, and even being able to send out one invoice saves these companies millions every year.

So when you are looking to have a high speed connection for your internet service, call some of your other service providers. Oftentimes you will find that if you bundle your services you will not only save money on your high speed internet but also on your other utilities such as cable or phone service.

Rural High Speed Internet

Living in the country has many advantages. The clean air and great views as well as good hard working neighbors are some of the best reason for living in rural areas.

However rural areas also suffer many disadvantages. One disadvantage that just keeps becoming more important every year is suffering through dial-up for internet access. Sure several years ago it most likely did not affect you that much. But now many companies and even the government now urge you to use the internet to fill out forms and the like.

Besides all this there is the fun aspect to the internet that dial-up users just can’t take advantage of. Local news, weather, games, e-mail, chat, video, sound. The list just goes on and on. Personally I travel every few months on business and the internet helps me get the best deal on flights, hotels, and even coupons to restaurants I plan to visit. Not to mention looking up Farming futures.

If you live in a rural area and you can not get cable internet or DSL then all is not lost. Many rural areas now offer something called line of site. This is basically you using a dish to pickup wireless internet from a tower that the dish can see. While this is a great way to go for many people it is still hard to find a provider that offers such services because of the amount of terrain these towers need to cover.

Your other option is to go with a rural high speed internet provider I am talking about satellite internet service. Now you most likely looked into this a few years back. Just 2 years ago the price for access was well over 100 bucks. That has all changed in just the past year. Now you can have access to speeds that are 50 times faster then dial-up for a starting price of under 40 bucks a month. Yes there are still plenty of places that charge up to 300 dollars for the fastest speeds out there but for regular home users there is just no need to pay that higher price for slightly faster service.

The down side to satellite internet is you will need to have a dish on your property some were and during very bad weather you may loose access to the internet for a short time. If you don’t mind the downsides then this is something you should look into.

High Speed Internet Services

The ever-increasing demand for fast-paced Internet access has resulted in new cutting-edge technologies being offered by various service providers. Apart from being fast, these Internet services are cost-effective, user-friendly and hassle-free.

Choosing the right type of Internet service primarily depends on which technology is available in the area. The major types of high speed Internet access services include cable, DSL, wireless and satellite.

Cable Internet technology uses co-axial or fiber optic cables for accessing the Internet speedily. Apart from delivering television channels, cable wires are capable of handling Internet connections as well. Splitting the cable wire into two, with one connected to the television and the other to the computer, facilitates faster connectivity and access. Cable Internet service is extremely fast compared to traditional dial-up, is unlimited and reasonably inexpensive, as there is no cost for extra phone calls.

DSL Internet or Digital Subscriber Line Internet makes use of the existing bandwidth in telephone lines for Internet connectivity, as the telephone wire is capable of carrying data on varying frequencies. For using DSL Internet, it has to be ensured that the DSL signals do not interfere with telephone signals. Some of the prime advantages of DSL include being able to use the phone line while the Internet is on, a much higher speed than regular modems, and no requirement of fresh wiring.

Satellite Internet uses the technology of connecting to the Internet via satellites. The signals travel between the computer, satellite and ISP source. This technology is mostly used in areas where terrestrial Internet access is not possible, or in places which require frequent movement. Whether vessels at sea or remote military locations, satellite connections are available globally.

Wireless Internet access facilitates accessing the Internet while on the move, through mobiles and pocket PCs. This latest technology is still being improvised at various technological research centers. Based in areas which are frequented while traveling, like airports, hotels and restaurants, this service works on a wireless node.

All these technologies have succeeded in providing an impetus to communication via the Internet, by ensuring access at unprecedented speed.

High Speed Internet Access Providers

Are you at all thinking of switching over to a high speed Internet access from the much slower dial-up connection you currently have? You are not alone. It has become essential and affordable to have connections 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are three types of high-speed access aside from satellite connections. The Digital Service Line (DSL), Cable and Wireless connections are provided by companies for monthly fees that are not as high as those for a satellite connection. These are just the things for an Internet surfer looking for fast streaming online videos and quick downloads.

Verizon is one of the largest DSL connection providers in America, providing Internet access at speeds up to 768kbps for downloads and 128kbps for uploads. The service costs $34.95 per month and comes with a personalized home page, 10 MB web space and 9 email accounts. The first month of services is provided free of charge.

But if you would rather connect through your cable operator, then Comcast is a good provider. Their current offer of $50 dollar cash back also gives customers a free cable modem and wireless router for $19.99 dollars for six months. You need one connection for the entire family and download speed is 70 times faster than a normal dial-up modem.

Frequent travelers prefer wireless connections to other high-speed connections. Boingo Wireless provides a connection for $21.95 dollars a month and is available in countless locations across the country and in the lobbies of all major hotels in America.

Getting Up To Speed With Satellite Internet

Modern society relies on high speed internet for many dealings related to business, politics, medicine, and daily life. Reliance on the worldwide web is at an all-time high, keeping people connected to each other, the news, and the world. Information has become much more democratized. However, many people in rural areas have yet to experience the high speed internet that those in urban areas have been enjoying in their daily and professional lives. Now, with satellite internet, those living in remote areas can enjoy a high speed internet connection..

Rural areas have not been armed with high speed traditional broadband internet because many cable service providers refuse to set up the pricey infrastructure that is necessary for cable or DSL internet service. Because the population in rural areas is sparser, it is unprofitable for these cable companies to invest all the money necessary for the infrastructure. However, with satellite internet, these areas can now enjoy a high speed internet connection so that their daily and professional lives can be made much simpler. Satellite service was first developed to provide war-torn, desolate areas the ability to communicate despite the lack of phone lines and other telecommunication infrastructure. Because this technology uses the satellite orbiting space rather than actual physical infrastructure, the signals can reach virtually anywhere in the globe. Thus, it serves as the perfect technology to provide remote areas such as mountain towns and the country with a reliable high speed internet connection.

Previously, with dial-up, people could access the internet; however, its speeds were slow, preventing them from being able to enjoy many of the new innovations that required a high speed internet connection. Now, with satellite internet, people can speed up their lives as their urban dweller counterparts. They can quickly stream videos. They can play online games. They can download large files quickly. And they can even video chat. Perhaps the most important aspect of having a reliable high speed internet connection is that these users can more easily rely on the internet to access information and to communicate on a daily basis because it would take a mere few seconds to look up some information in comparison to the few minutes it would have taken with a dial-up connection. Given that many remote areas lack reliable cellular reception and that long distance phone calls can prove to be pretty expensive, having the internet opens up many avenues to stay connected and to communicate with friends, family, and other people that might live further away. Though email, social media networks, and video chatting, people can communicate in a much more casual way that enables them to stay in touch more frequently at a lower cost.

Living with dial-up internet can be a hassle, slowing down the things that you need to do. By making that switch to satellite internet, you can speeding up not only your internet connection, but your life with all the convenient tools for entertainment, daily, and personal purposes that will make it much simpler.

High Speed Internet Options

In the world of high speed internet services consumers have many choices. Consumers can choose from wireless, DSL, cable, satellite, and fiber optic. In most cases your location dictates which services will be available to you. Each service offers pros and cons but overall most work quite well in comparison to one and other.

Wireless internet service is transmitted via cellular towers in your area similar to that of cell phone service. Wireless internet speeds vary from 128Kbps up to 3Mbps. Wireless internet service is popular with business travelers and those who require internet access with their laptop while traveling. Like cell phones there are still dead areas will you will be unable to receive service.

DSL is one of the most popular ways to connect to the internet in the U.S. and abroad. DSL runs through phone lines and is usually administered by phone companies. DSL offers speeds of 128Kbps up to 9Mbps. DSL does require a phone line to be present at the site. This may be a drawback to some consumers who would rather only have a cell phone with no landline.

Cable internet service continues to grow in popularity as more and more cable companies offer service. Cable service can offer speeds of up to 30Mbps though most service providers employ some form of bandwidth cap. Normally limiting speeds from 3Mbps to 15Mbps. One drawback to cable is that if many users in your area use the internet at the same time speed can be significantly reduced. Cable though does not require any phone service and can even support VOIP services.

Satellite internet service is an alternative for those customers who find themselves in an area with only dialup service available to them. Satellite internet plans offer speeds of up to 2Mbps. Satellite internet service providers also employ bandwidth caps in the form of limiting the amount of downloading you can do per day. If you exceed this limit in most cases you are slowed down to 56Kbps.

Fiber optic internet service is a relatively new player in the high speed internet game offering speeds of up to 30Mbps similar to cable. The drawbacks to Fiber optic is simply that it is not available in most areas and the high costs due to the cost of running the fiber optic cables.

When selecting an internet service or provider it is important to know what you are getting make sure to take the time and learn about the product. After all many of the providers do require you to sign a contract for a set time period. So learn all you can and the jump on the web!

Tips On Choosing The Best High Speed Internet Provider

High speed Internet is the way to go these days especially if you use the World Wide Web on a daily basis. In fact, many who have switched from dial up to a high speed connection have sworn that they will never go back to the days of the old method. If you are thinking about getting a high speed connection for your computer or if you want to switch Internet providers, there are a few tips to keep in mind in order to choose the best Internet provider for your high speed connection needs.

See Who Provides Service in Your Area

The first step to finding the best Internet provider for a high speed connection is to determine who offers service in your area. Since not all Internet providers offer service in every area, it is a good idea to first call around and determine what your choices are with regard to providers. From that point you can narrow down the options to the best choice for high speed connections.

Determine the Best Internet Provider With Regard to Plan Offerings

When switching to a high speed connection or selecting a new Internet provider for your computer’s high speed connection you will have to peruse the plan offerings of various companies to determine which one is the best for your Internet needs. Within each high speed connection category you will come across various package options and you will have to narrow down the choices based on which package looks the best. This is another way to help you choose the best technology provider for your high speed Internet.

Figure Out Which Company Offers a Desirable Plan for the Best Price

You will also undoubtedly come across high speed plans which are similar in nature between the companies yet be different prices. Therefore, the best thing to do is determine which type of high speed package you wish to obtain and then call around to the different companies to see who offers the best deal on that desired Internet package. After all, who wants to pay more for an Internet package offered by one company when it is offered for a lesser price by another company? Shopping around for the best price is a wise thing to do in order to save money in the end.

Look at What the Company Offers in Addition to the Package Itself

Lastly, when shopping for an Internet provider which offers high speed connections you must also consider what the company offers their customers in addition to the package itself. In other words, factors such as customer service skills, availability of company representatives, technological advancements being made by the company and extra benefits offered by the provider should all be things considered when choosing your high speed Internet provider.

What is Verizon FiOS High Speed Internet?

You have probably heard the buzz surrounding the latest offering from Verizon, Verizon FiOS. Verizon FiOS is a fully updated network of digital TV, digital phone and digital broadband Internet service. In some areas of the country only the Verizon FiOS Internet service is available because of the laws and licenses in different parts of the country.

How is Verizon FiOS different from digital cable Internet service or regular broadband Internet? The biggest difference is in the speed. Normal satellite and cable Internet services offer a speed of about 8 mega bytes per second at the top tier of their service. Verizon FiOS Internet service starts at 5 mega bytes per second and then climbs to 15 mega bytes per second and 30 mega bytes per second depending on which package you choose. Even though the Verizon FiOS Internet service is significantly faster than any other type of satellite or even cable Internet service the prices for the Verizon service are competitive with other high speed Internet services. Depending on where you live Verizon FiOS service might even be cheaper than cable Internet, which is usually more expensive than satellite Internet service.

The increased speed of the Verizon FiOS Internet service is made possible by the fiber optic cables that Verizon uses. In the past Verizon used copper wires like many of the satellite and cable Internet providers still use today. But by switching to fiber optic cables Verizon was able to more than triple the top speed of Internet service. Not everyone needs to have an Internet speed of 15 or 30 mega bytes per second but there are many professionals and hobby enthusiasts that can do a lot more with that increased speed.

Anyone that works in the film, TV, or advertising industries needs a fast Internet connection in order to be able to watch and edit film, TV clips or commercials online and needs to be able to get the information they need at a moment’s notice. Millions of gamers around the world need an ultra fast Internet connection in order to get the most of their games, especially if they are playing MMORPGs where they could be competing for server space with millions of other users at the same time.

Does the average person or the average family really need ultra fast Internet service? Lots of people wonder if paying for such high speed Internet service is really worth it if they aren’t playing online games or downloading a lot of items. But I believe it really is worth the cost. Think of how much time you waste waiting for web pages to load if they have large graphics on them, or waiting for family photos, images and other web components that take awhile to load.

You can save a lot of time by switching to an ultra high speed Internet service like Verizon FiOS. If you have kids that need to do a lot of homework, or if you are taking online classes yourself, you’ll see that doing homework goes much faster and is a lot easier when you can access the educational materials that you or your kids need to complete schoolwork on a fiber optic Internet connection.
